OverviewOur Vision; Respectful Relationships can empower people to belong, connect and have meaning and confidence to meet the challenges of our time Established in the Northern Territory 50 years ago, Relationships Australia Northern Territory (RA-NT) is a community-based, not-for-profit, non-government organisation providing a broad range of services, which are for all members of the community regardless of religion, belief, age, gender, sexual orientation, lifestyle choice, cultural background, or economic circumstances.Our experienced and qualified staff provide support to individuals, couples, and families to enhance, maintain or where necessary, manage changes in their life.Due to the continued growth of RA-NT and recent retirement of some Board members, the Board would like to appoint up to 3 additional board members to better assist the organisation to supports its strategic goals over the coming years.More detailed information regarding RA-NT can be found on our website: www.nt.relationships.org.auOrganisational overview Today RA-NT has 70 staff with office locations in Darwin, Alice Springs, and Katherine and provision of outreach services to many regional and remote locations. Turnover is approximately $8 million with funding from Commonwealth and Territory Government, Community-based organisations, and private employers.Our services include • Employee Assistance Program • Group courses • Workplace mediation • Critical Incident Stress Management • Counselling and support for people affected by the Disability Royal Commission • Family Relationship Centre • Senior Relationship Centre • Adult Support Specialist Services – including Redress, Forced Adoption, Find and Connect and Intercountry Adoptee • Family & Relationship Services • Healing our Children • Post Separation Cooperative Parenting • Holding Children Together • Family Dispute Resolution Governance structure & members RA-NT is an Incorporated Association under the NT Associations Act and a registered Charity with ACNC.Members are individuals that support the objects and purposes of the organisation. RA-NT currently has 15 financial members.The Association can have up to 9 board members. All board members need to be financial members. Membership currently costs $5.50/year.The Board currently meets 6 times per year with some additional work required for Board Committees. The three board committees include Finance & Audit, Governance and Quality and Risk.Board members’ positions while voluntary in nature, expenses incurred to attend meetings will be paid or reimbursed. Professional development activities may be supported.Objects & purposes The Association is a non-profit, secular, community organisation that serves the people of the Northern Territory.The objects and purposes of the Association are: 1) To alleviate and reduce human suffering, distress and helplessness through the provision of high-quality professional services. 2) To provide family and relationship services particularly to those who are most vulnerable and disadvantaged. 3) To provide services to vulnerable people who seek support such as: people who are victims of abuse and trauma; those who are homeless and unemployed; individuals passing through significant life events; those affected by addiction, rural and remote isolation or facing significant economic hardship. 4) To provide a range of professional services for children and young people, couples and families, individuals and communities including: • Casework • Parenting programs • Education programs • Family dispute resolution services • Counselling such as relationship; workplace; grief and trauma and domestic and family violence counselling. • Services to assist people improve their mental health and wellbeing and • Employment servicesThe Board, the Chief Executive Officer and the other employees of the Association shall be mutually supportive in seeking to achieve the objects of the Association. About You We are seeking Board Directors who can demonstrate a capability to contribute to our organisation at a strategic level.Our priority is to seek Directors that may • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or multicultural decent • possess clinical background in counselling, social work or psychology with experience in clinical governance and / or clinical management • possess knowledge and awareness of the social disadvantage issues impacting people of the Northern Territory; • demonstrated understanding of legal frameworks and applicable legislation relevant to Boards, Directors and the operation of the Association • have legal/Commercial/social enterprise - proven ability to identify and critically evaluate growth opportunities and identify new ways in which the objectives of the Association can be achievedThe key attributes sought in Board Directors include • A selection of professional skills encompassing strategy, legal, finance, marketing, human resources, quality, safety, advocacy, risk management, practical and pragmatic approach. • A strong values alignment and empathy for the work of RA-NT. • Sound judgement with a good strategic lens and sensitive to the needs of vulnerable members of the community. • Mix of commercial, government and/or NFP sector skills and experience with an understanding of community development or welfare. • Knowledge of decision-making and governance processes ideally in a community and/or place-based setting.Eligibility Board members must be: • Over the age of eighteen, • Financial member of RA-NT • Not disqualified as a Director under Corporations Act or ACNC actHow to apply If you are interested, to nominate for a Board position please send your Professional CV together with a short overview of the value you can bring to RA-NT Board.All EOIs received will be confidential and can be emailed to ceo@ra-nt.org.au by Monday January 30th 2023.The Board hope to have new Board members appointed for the February Board Meeting.A full Board induction will also be conducted upon your appointment.If you would like to discuss this opportunity further prior to applying, please contact:Terri-ann ManeyCEOPhone: 0498 333 278ceo@ra-nt.org.au  AUD Darwin 0800
